Doctors Strike Continues


RAWALPINDI: Young doctors working in the three hospitals run by the Punjab government in the city continued their strike for increase in their salaries as well as evacuation of girls hostel curently occupied by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for years.

However, the young doctors attended the patients in camps established in the premises of hospitals.

The patients were examined and provided medicines without fee, a young doctor Dr Waleed Abbasi of the Holy Family Hospital said here on Tuesday.

He said that a meeting is in progress between the young doctors and government officials in Lahore.

"We will continue the strike till our demands are accepted," Dr Waleed Abbasi added.

Earlier, PML-N MNA Hanif Abbasi and senior officials tried to convince them for ending the strike but the doctors refused to end their strike.

The strike call was given by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) of Punjab.
