BAHAWALPUR: Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) doctors under Young Doctors Association (YDA) Saturday continued their strike for the 5th consecutive day for increase in their salaries.

With their strike, patients suffered miseries a lot. The doctors kept BVH OPDs closed to press their demands. The doctors in protest worked as vendors and drove motorcycle-rickshaws on roads. They were chanting slogans against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and his government. On the other hand, due to the doctors’ protest patients kept waiting outside OPDs for a long time. Many elderly patients particularly women were seen sleeping on footpaths and parks amid pain and agony. Many poor patients while calling the attention of the Punjab CM and the Health Department said that if they could not fulfil the doctors’ demands for pay rise, they must recruit the new doctors to save lives of poor people.
